Is truck driving a good career?

truck driving jobs
dillharvey asked:

I am 36 years old and have a 12 year old daughter, I have a class B cdl already and have drove a dumptruck for almost a year. I cant seem to get a good job. I was wondering if I go to truck driver school and get my class A is there a good chance of getting a local driving job so I can be home everyday or would I have to drive 48 stste for a year? Any good advise would be greatly appreciated.

my dads looking for a job right now, hes run a truckstop for a long time and has found a couple things that might work. if you want to be home try driving a cargo van, that kind of freight. or a gas hauler, work for one. buy a box truck or similar and expedite freight like that.

I know you are interested in truck driving but have you ever tried Refrigeration tech or AC technition? My hubby makes very good money! Oh and there is good side lines to! The schooling only took as lil as 4 months at "Rop".

My husband is an o/o and makes good money and can take time off when he wants/needs to. As a company driver you will have to stay out 10 days to 2 weeks with 2 days home time.
It's hard finding a local job where you can be home every night. You could try local businesses that deliver…furniture, office supplies, etc…but I'm not sure how they pay.
If you go to a driving school check them out first and when recruiters come to talk about jobs, don't believe everything they tell you.
