Is Truck driving a job that American won't do?

truck driving jobs
Devil_Fish(JKD) Be like water asked:

seems like it…since today the mexican trucks can go in and out of our border…why would any US companies want to pay our truck drivers any more??? since they can hire the mexican for cheaper wages? and they happen to be able to go in and out of our border legally.
just because the mexican truck drivers works for a mexican company…doesn't mean that corporate America won't hire their services!
how can u compare Canada's Standard to Mexican's standard????
or their way of issuing commercial truck license?
so it's a race card issue eh David???
what part of mexican as a nationality don't u understand??? it's not a race!

I think you completely misunderstand NAFTA. NAFTA does not create a new way for US companies to hire people. The Mexicans driving the trucks up from Mexico are employed by a Mexican company; the company is exporting goods to the US. Conversely, the border is open both ways so US drivers with good heading to Mexico can cross the border as well.

This solves a previously stupid approach to trucking across the border. Previously a truck would drive to the border, get unloaded in to a warehouse and then the items would be loaded in to a truck from the other country to finish the trip. Even in that case the trucks were crossing the border, however they could only go to designated warehouses (which of course tack on their costs to the products shipped).

Cross border shipping has been going on for several years across the Canadian-US border. Perhaps you have a racial issue?

To clarify for those of you who missed it; Mexican trucks can bring goods in to the US and take goods back to Mexico. They can not transport goods within the US unless the trucking company and it's drivers are properly licensed in the US.

Do you actually KNOW the requirements to get a Mexican truck driving license? Didn't think so…

Have you had a problem with Canadian Truck drivers bringing their loads across country all these years? Mexico can only bring theirs in so far and then have to transfer to a union guy. It increases our costs. Lets be a little fair here. This is not amnesty in anyway shape or form.

The newspaper is filled with ads for OTR drivers. You have to be able to get a commercial license in order to become a truck driver.
It is an American job.

This is a way to slowly integrate us into a Union with Mexico and Canada. Google Nafta superhighway.
